Inside and Out

While the offender is still incarcerated Beyond The Chains Ministry works to help them prepare  spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and physically for release.  BTCM is involved heavily in ministering at the Indianapolis Re-Entry Educational Facility for men.  This facility houses men who are within, at most, the last 18 months of their sentence.  BTCM labors within this facility to help the men prepare for their release back into the American society.  There are six primary ways that BTCM ministers within this facility:  discipling, teaching, mentoring, counseling, recovery, and aid.  Each of these is continued on an individual basis after the offender's release for those who are willing.

Discipling

BTCM disciples the men to instill within them God's ways and how to live Godly in Christ, Jesus.  This is done through one on one meetings and classroom teaching.  Accountability is a key part of this ministry, as well as Godly instruction.

Teaching

Many of the incarcerated have long been taught that they need to have a transformed mind in Christ, Jesus.  But, they are seldom taught how to let go of the past and how to let Christ make the changes.  BTCM strives to do this very thing.  Using resources already available through God's people we teach the Scriptures and how to apply them to the situations the incarcerated are faced with.

Mentoring

Mentoring is always done in a small group or one on one setting.  We minister to everything from social issues to family, and personal to spiritual issues.  Upon their release, mentoring continues for those who are willing.

Counseling

Many of the incarcerated are very weak in relational skills mostly because they have never been taught.  BTCM spends a great deal of time counseling to personal, relational, and spiritual issues.  We strive to teach the Biblical perspective addressing each of these aspects of life.

Recovery

A vast majority of offenders are incarcerated, in part, because of their struggle with an addiction of some sort.  BTCM assists with a Celebrate Recovery Inside group within the facility in Indianapolis.  This Bible based recovery program has proven to be a great asset for anyone who is struggling with the grip of an addiction.

Aid

Most offenders have to face three main problems upon their release:  transportation , housing, and employment.   Beyond The Chains Ministry works with other ministries around Indianapolis who are already set up to help in one or all of these three areas.

Church Training

We pray continually that God would send laborers to assist in this harvest.  There is a great need in many prison facilities for more volunteers.

Would you like to know how to get involved in the prison ministry?  Beyond The Chains is willing and able to help you get started.  If you are in Indiana and would like to get involved just contact us and we would be glad to assist.  Whether you just have a few questions that need answered, or would like more in depth training at your church we would be blessed to help you, or your group get started.
